13 Ways to Enjoy Prosecco for National Prosecco Day
August 13 is National Prosecco Day!
Or, in my world, Cynthia’s personal national holiday.
Prosecco, for the uninitiated, is a sparking wine variety from the Veneto region of Italy. While your typical champagne is produced from an assortment of grapes, Prosecco is derived from Prosecco (a.k.a. Glera) grapes. According to WineFolly,
Prosecco tends to have more present fruit and flower aromas which are a product of the grape. Because the wines are aged in large tanks with less pressure Prosecco bubbles are lighter, frothy and spritzy with less persistence. Finer Prosecco wines often exhibit notes of tropical fruits, banana cream, hazelnut, vanilla and honeycomb.
Prosecco is bubbly, refreshing and delicious drink that can be enjoyed at dinner, as a complement to dessert, and even solo. If you’ve never tried Prosecco, below are 13 ways to enjoy it in celebration of National Prosecco Day.
Prosecco + Grapefruit Cocktail
It’s summer so it makes sense to kick off this list with a truly refreshing option for a weekend brunch or afternoon on the patio. If grapefruit isn’t your thing, you could try white grape juice or something similar.
2. Raspberry Mint Prosecco Cocktail
Raspberries are one of my favorite fruits, so anytime I get to incorporate it into what I’m drinking or eating is a win. The mint also gives it a refreshing vibe. Pro Tip: Raspberries are super low in calories, rich in fiber, and have even more Vitamin C than oranges.
3. Strawberry Prosecco Slushie
Strawberries are definitely in my Top 5 favorite fruits and I personally think they are the ideal ingredient in any slushie drink. Make this recipe in a big batch and have it ready next time you hang by the pool.
4. Watermelon Prosecco Margaritas
Yet another refreshing recipe that seems perfect for summertime. I haven’t tried this recipe, but I plan to give it a whirl soon. I am not a huge fan of margaritas because of the tequila, so maybe with some Prosecco I can find something to enjoy about this popular drink.
5. Frozen Pink Grapefruit Prosecco Cocktail
This drink is made for the ‘gram and it has all the ingredients necessary to give you a pool-side buzz while simultaneously cooling off.
6. Best Prosecco Grapes
This one is super easy and has minimal ingredients. All you need is some Prosecco, vodka, sugar and…grapes.
7. Strawberry Prosecco Cake Pops
Cake pops are always a hit at any soiree, so consider adding this one to your boozy baking repertoire. Save the environment and don’t fuss with the sticks. Keep this one simple and ready for fingers to grab. They won’t last long.
8. Peach Prosecco Popsicles
If grapefruit, strawberries, or raspberries, are not your jam (*cymbal crash*), then these Peach Prosecco Popsicles will hopefully do the trick. Note: you’ll need some sleeves on-hand for these babies!
9. Strawberry + Prosecco Scones
Y’all. These were *made* for brunch! They’re not the simplest thing on this list to make, but if you want to pull out all the stops at your next girlfriend gathering then this one is worth trying.
10. Prosecco Cheesecake
This no-bake cheesecake is dressed up with Prosecco-soaked raspberries and strawberries. It’s pretty to look at and tastes even better!
11. Prosecco Ice Cubes
This recipe is exactly what it sounds like. Find an old school ice tray and fill it up with Prosecco, some sliced strawberries (or your preferred fruit), and slip them in the freezer overnight. Grab some orange juice for breakfast and add a little somethin’, somethin’ with these ice cubes (just not before work or you’re about to operate a vehicle/heavy machinery).
12. Creamsicle Prosecco Floats
Ice cream floats are just the best, aren’t they? Incorporate a little bubbly into your traditional creamsicle float by grabbing a bottle of Prosecco from your local grocery or wines/spirits store.
13. Cranberry Pomegranate Prosecco Sparklers
I picked this one out — even though it’s very seasonal — because it’s a favorite of mine to serve during the holidays. My sisters, who aren’t regular Prosecco drinkers requested this one at Christmas after I served it to them on Thanksgiving. I think that gives it a certain stamp of approval.
And that’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed this post and that it inspired you to try Prosecco if you’ve never tried it before, or try it in a different way. If you think you’ll be giving one one of these recipes a shot, let me know in the comments below!
